MRS. CHARLES INSKIP.
Mrs. Charles Inskip, who died last week-end at Shellharbour, had been a resident of the district for 87 years.
Her parents who came out with Governor Phillip, were among the first settlers on the South Coast, and an elder sister was the first white child born at Shellharbour. Her husband who predeceased her 10 years ago, was connected with a bacon factory and butchery for many years. The deceased remembered the district when tribal wars between the coastal blacks were frequent, and when wheat was extensively grown until rust took possession, and she saw dairying become its main industry. She leaves a family of six to survive her. St George Call (Kogarah, NSW : 1904 - 1923) Friday 4 May 1923 p 8

MISS SARAH ANN IRVINE-86 Years
The death occurred on Thursday morning of a well-known identity of Kiama in the person of Miss S. A, Irvine, who passed away in the Kiama District Hospital, to which she had been removed the previous afternoon, after a short illness which was followed by pneumonia.
Miss Irvine was the only surviving child of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Irvine, both of whom came out to Australia from their native Ireland, almost a century ago, Mrs, Irvine having been a Miss McInerne. Mr. Irvine took up the old Manning flat farm at Saddleback, where the children were born, but latter went to the Turon gold diggings, where he contracted a fever and died.,
The house next to the Kiama Cinema where, the late Miss Irvine lived for half a century, had originally been designed as a seaside house to which members of the household came for a holiday time on the beach and a dip in the sea, and after Mr. Irvines death, his widow occupied it as a residence and also kept a small drapery and confectionary shop there. When she died 21 years ago, Miss Irvine remained and lived there alone until her death
The late Miss Irvine had one brother Mr, John Irvine, and four sisters, Mary (Mrs, Gibson), Bella (Mrs. Johnston), Harriet (Mrs. Gibson) and Charlotte (Mrs Culland), all of whom predeceased her. In her later years she experienced the loving care of her nephews and nieces, and she was always a devoted churchwoman.
The funeral took place at the Church of England cemetery, North Kiama, yesterday afternoon, the Rector, the J.W.A Watkinson officiating. The Kiama Independent, and Shoalhaven Advertiser (NSW : 1863 - 1947) Saturday 25 April 1931 p 2

She was born in County of Ahmar (Ireland) in the year 1862, having reached her 76th milestone. She came to New South Wales with her parents when five years of age, and when 23 years of age married the late Mr. Hy. Ison, subsequently removing to Nowra Hill, Mr. Ison following the timber industry and farming, doing a lot of carrying work to and from Yalwal goldfield over a number of years. Some years ago they removed to Budgong, where Mr. Ison died. There was issue of their marriage eleven children, the surviving members being William (Budgong), Mary (Mrs. Hush, Kinghorn-street, Nowra), Wilfred (Nowra). Ada (Mrs. J. Oakes, Wagga). Edward John (Bowral), Richard Henry (Newcastle), Alice May (Mrs. J. Pepper), Ivy Floreince (Mrs. E. Hughes, Burrier), and Lola Gladys (Mrs. Amby Jones, Burrier). There are 39 grand-children, and four great-grandchildren.
The interment took place in the Church of England portion of the Nowra public cemetery, on Sunday afternoon, when a large circle of old friends were in attendance to pay their last tribute of respect. The Nowra Leader (NSW : 1909 - 1939) Friday 15 April 1938 p 5
