Born at Scarborough, England, 12th March, 1845, she came with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cockerill, to Australia in 1854. The journey, which occupied six months, was taken in a sailing vessel, during which time many dangers were incurred. Mr. and Mrs. Cockerill and family settled in the Robertson district, South Coast, where Mrs. Fryer's girlhood was spent. She was married there to Mr. Fryer and came to reside at Shellharbor, following dairying pursuits. The prospects for dairying on the North Coast tempted Mr. Fryer to come north. He purchased the property - "Rosedale" on the Wyrallah-Rous road, and brought the family up, arriving on 24th April, 1889. The facilities for dairying not being developed in part of the district, they moved to Newrybar, and successfully followed the dairying industry for several years. Mrs. Fryer was known there for her kindly disposition and for her valuable assistance in times of sickness, and having a practical knowledge of ordinary ailments, in many cases saved the necessity of calling in a doctor, who were then few and far between. Born at Scarborough, England, 12th March, 1845, she came with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cockerill, to Australia in 1854. -They returned to their home in Wyrallah and remained there till increasing years and infirmities brought about the necessity for a rest. Prior to leaving they were entertained by their neighbors and each was the recipient of a presentation. Mrs. Fryer was here, as in former localities, known for her kindness in times of sickness, and many regrets were expressed at their departure, and the news of her death was received with sadness. They decided to spend their declining years at Wollongbar, near their daughter, Mrs. N. T. Knight, and "Cosy Corner" was built, and they settled down to a well-earned rest, visited at intervals by the members of their family. Their family consisted of two sons, Messrs. W. H. Fryer (Lismore) and Walter Fryer (Boorie), and two (daughters, Mrs. J. Jorgensen (Brooklet) and Mrs. N. T. Knight (Wollongbar), with whom deep sympathy is expressed in the loss of a truly devoted mother. Her husband, who is practically an invalid, survives her, and has sustained a heavy loss in the death ofan affectionate wife and untiring nurse. During her life she fully aided her husband in all his enterprises, and was a worthy pioneer of the country. One brother, Mr. J. Cockerill, still survives her. She lived to see her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her later sorrows were the death of a grandson, Mr. George Jorgensen, to whom she was much attached, and also the untimely death of her little great-granddaughter, Mavis Sneesby. Her remains were interred in Wollongbar cemetery, the Rev. F. R. Newton officiating at the graveside. -[FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT.]    +<blockquote>[FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT.]

-Quite a gloom was cast over our township on Friday, the 19th instant, when It became generally known that Miss Maria Fuller, the daughter of Mr. Thomas Fuller (the manager of one of the local banks), was drowned at Mr. Kendall's beach; Mr. Fuller being on a visit in the Goulburn district. Daisy Fuller, as she was generally called, was a very interesting and intelligent little girl of seven years of age, and was much esteemed by a large circle of relatives and friends. On Saturday morning an inquest was held before the coroner, Mr. Henry Connell, J.P., and a jury of twelve, when the following evidence was elicited. Mr. Ritchie, a servant in the employ of Mr. Thomas Chapman, J.P., stated that between five and six on Friday evening he heard ahoy calling out that Daisy Fuller was in the water and that the waves were taking her away ; he immediately ran about fourteen chains to the spot indicated at the sea and saw the body of deceased floating in a deep channel of water between two rocks ; with some difficulty, and the assistance of the boy Robert Leggatt, he succeeded in getting the body-which, was cold, and to all appearance dead-out of the water ; he wrapped his coat round the body, which was quite naked, and ran with it to the residence of Mr. Hayes, some ten chains from the spot; when he took the body out of the water Miss Wake ford and two little girls were close by ; he heard one of them say a wave carried the deceased off the rocks, and the other said she fell in the water ; his own belief was that if she stood on the rock in question (which is very slippery, and, when the waves receded some 4 feet above water) she might have been swept off by a wave. Miss Blanche Elizabeth Wakeford stated that about 4 on the afternoon of Friday she called on Annie Waldron, and they two went to Kendall's beach to bathe, and they found when they arrived Laura, Amy, and Louisa Waldron, and Agnes Wakeford bathing ; she and Annie Waldron joined the other in the water, and while there, she saw deceased coming down with the towels ; after a while they left the beach, which was comparatively safe, and went to a place in the rocks where the water was not very deep ; in a short time Annie Waldron ordered the children out as they had been in long enough, and observed to her (witness) that the current was too strong to remain; they all went out, and almost immediately after Laura called out that Daisy was in the waves ; they shouted to some boys that a child was drowning; shortly after, W. Ritchie came and rescued the body of deceased from the deep water he hind the rocks where the breakers rushed in ; it was not five minutes between Laura calling out that Daisy was in the water, and her being taken out by Ritchie ; she did not know that Daisy was bathing until she beard she was in the waves-none of them could swim. Laura Waldron   stated that her cousin Daisy lived with them ; that Daisy did not get into the water with her cousins ; she was on the rock above the hole where they were bathing; when she (witness) came out to dress, she sent her sister Amy (who was covered with: sand) again to the water ; Amy ran back, saying that there was something in the water ; she ran down and saw Daisy's head floating on the water ; she screamed out to Miss Wakeford and her sister Annie, who rushed out of tho waterhole ; she did not see Daisy go or fall into the water, or in fact did she know that she was bathing; Daisy had bathed with them on previous occasions ; it was Amy who first saw the deceased in the water, and she (witness) did not know how long she had been there. Dr. Miller stated that the deceased had all the appearance of having been recently submerged in water; there was no respiration, the action of the heart had ceased, and she must have been dead fifteen or twenty minutes; he, however, used the usual means to restore animation for nearly an hour without effect; he was satisfied that death was caused   by suffocation from drowning. The Coroner, on summing up, observed that it was highly important that parents and guardians of children should supervise their bathing on the beach and rocks (where a single step might precipitate them into deep water) by sending some competent person to look after them. A number of children were seen daily wandering over steep rocks and bathing in dangerous places, and it was surprising that more accidents did not take place. The jury returned a verdict of accidentally drowned while bathing at the rocks near Kendall's beach." //The Sydney Morning Herald (NSW: 1842 - 1954)// **Saturday 27 December 1873**+Quite a gloom was cast over our township on Friday, the 19th instant, when It became generally known that Miss Maria Fuller, the daughter of Mr.
