-**Michael arrived with a considerable amount of capital and an enterprising nature. He received a grant of 1280 acres at Jamberoo in 1829 and named it "Sarah's Valley". His activities included a store, a hotel. a tannery, bootmaking and cedar getting. For diversion he enjoyed horse racing and built a racecourse to his own design. About 1846 he sold his Jamberoo property and moved to Shoalhaven establishing an inn and, later, a store and hotel at Greenhills. On retirement he moved into a private dwelling in Berry St, Nowra. He was said to be a man with a strong sense of justice and generous instincts. His son David was an Alderman on the Shoalhaven Council for 47 years and several times Mayor. Another son, Solomon, was an M.L.A. for Balmain and also Mayor. Solomon was also an expert on Jersey cattle and is called `the father of yachting on Sydney Harbour'.**
