-At the advanced age of 89 years, Mrs. Jane Musgrave passed away on December 19, at her residence, Prince's Highway, Fairy Meadow. The late Mrs. Musgrave was born at Carcoar and was married at Young to the late Mr. John Musgrave, who was a native of Wollongong. After their marriage they lived at McKenzie Station on the Bogan River, where Mr. Musgrave was employed as a boundary rider. Their nearest white neighbour was 20 miles away at the Station Homestead. The blacks were very numerous in that locality and the late Mrs. Musgrave could tell many interesting stories of the aborigines and their customs and tribal fights. Often Mrs. Musgrave would be by herself for days, when her husband was out seeing to the fences and water holes, but never at anytime did the blacks attempt to interfere with her. During the time they were on McKenzie Station they experienced some severe droughts, and it was necessary to go six miles to get water out of a creek. It had to be boiled before being used. Mr. and Mrs. Musgrave came to the South Coast 66 years ago. There was no railway then, and they came down the Bulli Pass by coach from Campbelltown. The road then was very different to what it is now, and the late Mrs. Musgrave often remarked that it was just as well she came   down at night, for if she had seen it by daylight she would have walked rather than came down in the coach. They went to reside in Crown-st. Wollongong, and the rent of the cottage was 4/- a week. Mr. Musgrave engaged in farming and also worked at Osborne's brickworks in Church- st. They went to live at Fairy Meadow 43 years ago. A devout worshipper at the Presbyterian Church, she was in the habit of walking from her residence to the Balgownie Presbyterian Church every Sunday until her hearing failed. She was a generous giver and supporter of all charitable organisations. Despite her advanced years she had enjoyed excellent health until twelve months ago, when she became ill. However, she rallied and was able to get up and about again, but about two months ago she again became ill and gradually declined in health. Her husband predeceased her by 23 years. Two daughters also predeceased her.
